Small and cozy, the kitchen of the “Casa del Frate” is the heart of the entire B & B. Here we “consume” the ritual of breakfast. Coffee, milk, and lots of sweets and the long-awaited “Torta del Frate”.

Torta del Frate


  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups of sugar
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 1 pound and a half of butter
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 1 glass of warm milk
  • 1 package of unsweetened cocoa powder



mounted the softened butter with the sugar. Add the 3 egg yolks. Knead vigorously. Then add the flour and milk. Amalgamates all. At this point you mount the egg whites that will be added to the mixture. Finally the yeast.

And now the hard part

Pour half the mixture into a baking dish that has been buttered and floured. I recommend baking paper is not indicated. Being tough and inflexible then enters the dough, creating folds in the cake. At this point in the other half of batter add the cocoa. Mix thoroughly and then pour over the mixture is light. S’inforna at 180 degrees for 1 hour.

Remove from the oven and enjoy it.
