After the success of the first edition, the Cultural Circle-liberal “Hawkwood” of Castiglion Fiorentino returns to the literary competition “Hawkwood” dedicated to high school students of Arezzo’s Valdichiana and non-professional writers. The contest will award the best works on the theme “think global, act local” theme more relevant than ever at a time when we are witnessing the dialectic between globalization on the one hand, and strong pushes local interests on the other. As the award ceremony and at the same time the final moment of the initiative is planned for Sunday, May 12, 2013 at 17 a conference at the municipal theater of Castiglion Fiorentino, with the participation, as well as influential personalities of the local culture, even Renzo Guolo, professor of sociology at the University of Padua, and the Israeli ambassador in Italy Naor Gilon. After the well-known journalist Massimo Fini, therefore, come to Castiglion Fiorentino two other distinguished guests for an interesting debate on current issues and international politics, and whose detailed program will be announced shortly. The prize money provided for the 2nd Literary Contest “Hawkwood” consists of two trips to Israel, to be carried out in July, and six pounds of books. Will be awarded to the top four processed in each category student section and section writers in progress. Entries can be in the form of a story, poem, newspaper article or topic, and must be a maximum length of two pages of text (3,600 characters excluding spaces) and should be sent to the email address circolo.lacuto @ gmail.com no later than March 30, 2013, with the subject “think global act local” and the name of the competitor. The best works will be selected by a panel of jury consisting of journalists and local cultural operators.
