When falling in love is transformed into love comes the desire to be together for life. This is the story of Angelo Marciano and his beautiful wife Julia, the current owners of Villa Schiatti. Two lives, one meeting, one destiny. That translates concretely after the celebration of marriage, even in the purchase, in 2007, the prestigious historic home. “After a long absence from Italy – tell the couple – we had decided to find a structure that would be our ‘buen retiro’ but also a magical place for tourists and visitors. We were looking for a place of peace and of absolute beauty. We found Villa Schiatti is this!” We are on the mountain “The Civitelle”, at an altitude of 400 m, 800 m from the regional road in the town of Castiglion Fiorentino. To the east is the “cousin” Cortona, distant about six miles, while to the west stands the majestic Castle of Montecchio. It is of some fragments of flint, dating back to the prehistoric period, which many Etruscan bronzes, now in foreign museums of Leida, Vienna. But only in 1800 the place takes its present appearance. The Arezzo Giovan Battista Schiatti, a wealthy landowner who saw their birth in Castiglion Fiorentino in 1858, he decided to return to live in the country of the Tower of the Fortress where he built a stately home. From the marriage with Lucrezia Sandrelli were not born sons and Giovan Battista then decided to set up a “Shelter Male Protection of illegitimate children” operated by the City of Castiglion Fiorentino. From college, then, Villa Schiatti became a refuge for the displaced.
