The City of Castiglion Fiorentino and Pro Loco Association have published the notice of competition to participate in the creation of the banner of the Palio 2013.
The implementation of the standard is to be achieved by painting on cloth and Ward will be awarded to the winner of the 2013 edition of the Palio itself. The competition is open to all those who have reached eighteen years of age. Are allowed to join the students of The Art Institutes and schools and courses collateral relatives without restriction of age. The realization of the subject depicted in the proposed Palio by the candidates should be based on the correct correspondence with the historical significance, religious and folkloric manifestation of the “Palio dei Rioni” dedicated to our Madonna delle Grazie del Rivaio, on display at the church in Castiglion Fiorentino. The sketch proposed must include all the colors of the three districts of castiglionesi, the image of the Madonna, the name of the city of Castiglion Fiorentino and the year of the event. The works will be judged by a Jury composed by the Mayor of the City of Castiglion Fiorentino, the Palio Councillor, the Councillor for Culture, the President Pro Loco di Castiglion Fiorentino, a member of the Board of Directors of the Institution Cultural and Educational Castiglionese and art expert. The Commission will publish the winner’s name within 30 days of the month of April 2013, which will be widely disseminated through print, radio, TV, the Internet and the winning of the curriculum vitae of the artist who will be the guest of honor at the 2013 edition of the “Palio dei Rioni”.

Here is the “Call for ideas for the realization of the Palio 2013”

Article 1: Launching the competition of ideas for the realization of the Palio banner with fabric painting that will be awarded to the winner of the Ward 2013 edition of the Palio itself.

Article 2: The competition is open to all those who have reached eighteen years of age. Are allowed to join the students of The Art Institutes and schools and courses collateral relatives without restriction of age.

Article 3: The realization of the subject depicted in the proposed Palio by the candidates should be based on the correct correspondence with the historical significance, religious and folkloric manifestation of the “Palio dei Rioni” dedicated to our Madonna delle Grazie del Rivaio. Candidates should therefore read up on the history of the race from its origins to today. To this end, will benefit from the collaboration and materials in the possession of the City, the Pro Loco and Cultural Institution and educational Castiglionese. Applicants, upon request, may view the banners of Palio belonging to past and displayed in local street locations. The statue of our Madonna delle Grazie del Rivaio is exposed at the church in Castiglion Fiorentino.

Article 4: The sketch proposed must include all the colors of the three districts of Castiglione, the image of the Madonna, the name of the city of Castiglion Fiorentino and the year of the event. The drafts proposed to be made strictly technical manual. In case of non-compliance, even partial, of the requirements of the sketches will be excluded from the competition.

Article 5: Applicants must submit a sketch of Palio with a minimum size of 21×30 cm with a report on the significance of the proposed subject. This material, together with the curriculum vitae of the candidate himself placed in a special envelope, must be mailed or delivered to the Office Pro Loco selection of Castiglion Fiorentino by the day April 22, 2013 through a special envelope addressed to the President of the Pro Loco. Will the postmark and the Office Pro Loco is not responsible for any delay or misdirected mail. The sketch and the report must be submitted anonymously. Signed works will not be accepted. The personal data including name, telephone number, e-mail address will only be indicated in the CV. Participation in the competition the candidate agrees to the acceptance of this Regulation to which it can not be opposed no objection or reservation.

Article 6: The works received will be reviewed by a Selection Committee composed as follows:
-Mayor of the City of Castiglion Fiorentino
– Head of Palio
– Councillor for Culture of the City of Castiglion Fiorentino
President Pro Loco of Castiglion Fiorentino
-A member of the Board of Directors of the Institution Cultural and Educational Castiglionese
-An art expert.
The Commission will publish the winner’s name within 30 days of the month of April 2013. The judges’ decision will be final.

Article 7: The winner will receive immediate notification by registered letter or email with your request and instructions for carrying out the proposed work on the sketch and the additional definitive agreements.
The actual size of the banner must be finished Palio 90×150 cm, made with indelible paint technique. The winner will have to deliver the work within the day May 31, 2013. The same will be presented in a press conference and during competition musicians and flag bearers to be held Saturday, June 9, to which the artist winner agrees to participate. The winner authorizes the organizers of the “Palio dei Rioni” use and dissemination of data and information contained in your resume.
Will be widely disseminated through print, radio, TV, the Internet and the winning of the curriculum vitae of the artist who will be the guest of honor at the 2013 edition of the “Palio dei Rioni”.
