But if these events, most of those surveyed 3000, we did a sort of classification we may be sure that Castiglion Fiorentino would jump among the first positions. It is because, over the years, the village of Torre del Cassero has been able to jealously preserve both the look and the atmosphere of centuries past. Hooded men and women from three different companies created between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries – S. Antonio dressed in white, Good Death dressed in black and the Society of Jesus dressed in blue – parade with the funny face and the torch illuminating, so the streets of the historic center. During the procession accompanying the cross-bearers, the bearers of life-size wooden statues, representing the Passion of Jesus population remained very attached to the faith and to Christian traditions, not only celebrating a special religious ceremony or a solemn and sad procession Jesus died but all of these things together. And the testimony of the love of Jesus Crucified in Castiglione not remain confined to works of art handed down from fathers and preserved in churches or shrines of the City Museum, but live and relive outdoors, especially in the streets and squares of the town . The first is organized by the Society of St. Anthony (white mantles), starting from the church of San Francesco, the second by the Compagnia della Misericordia (black capes) leaving the Church of the Good Death. As always, the people called the processions of “Christ taken in the Garden” and “Christ at the Column” and they, for the most spectacular and mysterious coincidence, remember the arrest of Christ, on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday during the which probably took place. On Good Friday, always at around 21, is scheduled to be even more solemn Procession of the Dead Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows. In this case, the procession is organized by the Society of Jesus (blue caps), starting from the famous and beautiful church of Jesus which stands beside the Cathedral. But the most spectacular rite is the “volo” or “volata” that takes place on Holy Saturday, at midnight, the singing of the Gloria. This year will not be held in the Collegiate Church, closed for renovation, but in the church of San Francesco. The beautiful statue of the “Resurrexit” ’600 weighing several tons, is carried on the shoulders of the brothers of the Holy Trinity.
