The history of the “IL CONDOTTIERO HOLIDAY HOUSE”

The history of the “IL CONDOTTIERO HOLIDAY HOUSE”

Our Stories

In 1383 John Hawkwood, the “condottiero” (called Giovanni Acuto from Niccolò Machiavelli) at the behest of the rulers of Florence took up residence in Montecchio Vesponi. His deeds are still remembered in countless folk performances that are held each year in Castiglion Fiorentino. And there is a local young entrepreneur , Luca Fabianelli, who likes to think that exactly over his own olive grove on his property, John Hawkwood armed with a sword had first fought the enemies and won the hearts of some girls.

For this reason he decided to “baptize” his holiday home under the name “ Il Condottiero holiday house”.  “The cottage – Luca says with a touch of pride – an idea that is cultivated from an early age, since already very in love with my country, Tuscany, I wanted to share my passion with tourists, foreign visitors and travelers.” “Casolare Il Condottiero” is in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment. In a panoramic position, only 300 meters away from the majestic Castle of Montecchio, is surrounded by olive groves and small woods. At every step you breathe the “scent” of ancient history made of struggles and battles but also of love and courtship.

And in this quiet piece of land Luca was born and raised.

Here was the unwitting witness of the passage of time marked by joys and sorrows.

Sadness, as when he changed his residence. “From the minute I moved the idea of keeping closed what had always been my beloved home made me feel bad – he continues – and as soon as I was presented the opportunity to turn it into an holiday house I did not  think twice. After this, in 2009, Casolare Il Condottiero has been created.”.

The structure remains unchanged.

Even today the essence  of the house is friendly and deliberately protective from the dangers of the external environment. The building can accommodate up to 11 people and is surrounded by unspoilt nature.3 acres of land with swimming pool and gardens with a small wood and olive groves. Here you can still see small squirrels as fast as the cunning foxes and other animals. “A whirlwind of memories – still tells Luca Fabianelli – thoughts and emotions that only thinking in my mind I relive those intense moments … moments that I hope that visitors can live with absolute joy and happiness.”

At “Il Condottiero Holiday house” there is the possibility to arrange trekking or mountain biking with local guides, to discover the paths of the area. Courses in ceramics, painting, wine tours and much more. “I hope that visitors – said Luca Fabianelli – can spend a wonderful stay in my beloved home.” And so it is seen that more and more guests return to “Il Condottiero holiday house”.
